Villas for groups of 8 or more on Koh Phangan range from four-bedroom houses for 8 to a seven-bedroom house for 13, and some houses are offered together with their neighbours. What matters most is how bedrooms, bathrooms and living zones are split, and how far the villa is from Thong Sala.
How this list is built
The list below covers villas for larger parties, including neighbouring villas that are listed as a set. Each villa is scored with the same published criteria, described in the methodology. Missing data scores 0, so the lower end of a range is what a villa earns on published facts, and the upper end is what it would earn if each missing item scored full points. Where data is missing, the range between the two ends shows how much a villa could still gain.
Some villas in the list belong to a set. Inn Harmony Villa and InnSpire Villa in Hin Kong are offered together for 14 guests. InnSpire sleeps 6 on its own, fewer than this list requires, so it is listed through the set and takes the set’s points, those of the lower-scoring house. Inn Harmony is ranked on its own points. Baan Ya Kha, for 10 guests, is one of three houses on the Baan Thamarchat Estate, which sleep 26 together, and is also ranked on its own points. Linking never adds points. Small retreat for 8 to 14 people
For a retreat venue on Koh Phangan, start with the layout rather than the pool. Count bedrooms, then bathrooms per bedroom, then look for separate buildings or zones, so yoga, work and sleep do not compete for the same space.
Palm Stone has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms for up to 8 guests. Its operator describes a primary suite in its own building with space for massage or wellness treatments, on a private hillside. It is 5 minutes by car from Thong Sala, with a paved road to the gate.
Beachfront Hin Kong has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, 3 of them en suite, for 10 guests, with separate zones. The beach is 1 minute on foot and Thong Sala 9 minutes by car.
Secret Beach Villa is the larger option: 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, 3 of them en suite, for 12 guests. The agency listing describes a principal villa plus a separate honeymoon villa and beach villa, with the beach 1 minute on foot. The trade-offs are 17 minutes by car to Thong Sala and an unpaved road to the gate.
Narivana has 4 bedrooms with 4 en-suite bathrooms for 8 guests, separate zones and a 15 m saltwater infinity pool. The trade-off is 27 minutes by car to Thong Sala. Baan Ya Kha also has separate zones, with 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms for 10 guests.
Quiet matters for a retreat. Wikivoyage calls Haad Rin the most touristy and crowded village and the home of the Full Moon Party, and describes Thonglang Bay, where Secret Beach Villa sits, as a peaceful escape from the crowds. Other areas are compared in where to stay on Koh Phangan.
Birthdays and celebrations
Sleeping capacity is the first number to check: a villa for 8 does not host 12 overnight guests. Day guests, catering and music are separate questions. For a larger party, houses booked together as a set give more beds, but your group is then split between them.
Our data does not cover event policies or noise rules, so ask the owner in writing before you pay a deposit:
- Are parties or events allowed, and is prior approval required?
- Until what time may music be played, and are there neighbours within earshot?
- Is there a limit on day visitors, and is there a fee for extra guests?
- Who is on site during your stay, and who handles complaints?
- Is the pool fenced? One agency listing states there is no safety fence and no lifeguard, and that events need prior approval from the agency.
