What The Phangan Edit is
The Phangan Edit is a guide to Koh Phangan for groups and families who rent a whole private villa. It has a catalogue of private villas on the island, rankings scored by published rules, area guides and practical pages on ferries, weather and Full Moon Party dates. The pages are written by the editors of The Phangan Edit. The publisher is named in the imprint.
How we research and check
Every guide starts from at least two named sources, such as official pages, timetables, public offer pages and open data. We draft the texts with the help of AI language models, using only those sources and our own villa data, and a separate fact check compares each factual claim with them. Automatic checks run on every page before it goes online.
Each guide lists its sources with the date we read them and shows the date of its last update.
How a page is made
- Sources first. Before anything is written, we name at least two sources for the page.
- Draft. An AI language model writes a draft from those sources and our villa data only; it has no other access to the web.
- Fact check. A second pass compares each factual claim with the sources and drops what they do not support.
- Automatic checks. Every source address must answer, every number about a villa must match our villa data, and every internal link must lead to a page that exists.
- Publication. A page goes online only after it has passed these checks. The publisher of the site (see the imprint) is responsible for its content.
Texts never set the position of a villa: rankings and points are computed from the data under the published methodology. Pages are signed “The Phangan Edit editors”.
Sources we use
We start from first-hand sources: official pages of authorities and ferry operators, timetables, the Thai Meteorological Department and OpenStreetMap. Travel guides such as Wikivoyage and press articles come next. Booking and rating platforms serve only for public villa data and guest ratings.
Each source appears on the page with the date we read it. Where two sources disagree, the page says so instead of choosing one in silence.
How villas are scored
Villas are scored out of 100 points by criteria and weights that we publish in the methodology. The order of a ranking follows from the points. Villa data comes from public offer pages, guest rating platforms and OpenStreetMap, and each villa profile lists the sources of its data.

Images marked “AI illustration” are illustrations, not photographs.
Report an error
If you find a mistake, or you run a villa and its data is out of date, write to redakcja@phanganedit.com with the address of the page and what should change. We check every report against the source and correct the page; its update date then changes.
Corrections
A confirmed error is corrected on the page itself, not in a note elsewhere, and the date of the last update changes with it. If a source turns out to be wrong or out of date, we look for a better one; a claim we can no longer confirm comes off the page. Changes in villa data reach the scores and rankings with the next update of the site.
