About this list
This list gathers villas with a recorded sunset view, an infinity pool, or both. A sunset view on Koh Phangan often comes from the west coast, while the pool is a separate field in our data: infinity or not, saltwater or not, and a length in metres where the villa publishes one. Read both together with the access figures, because views and easy access to the sand do not always go together.
What the two criteria mean on Koh Phangan
Sunset view. The view depends on which way the terrace faces. Wikivoyage describes Haad Chao Phao, on the western shore, as a beach with bars and restaurants where you can have dinner while the sun sets. The west coast is not the only option. Secret Beach Villa, on Thong Lang bay in the north, is described by its agency as having a sunset that dips between the edge of the bay and Koh Ma. Shades of Blue, on the west coast, has its sunset behind Ang Thong Marine Park.
For each villa we record sea view and sunset view as yes, no or not published. A value marked as not published is not a no. Where sources disagree on location, check directly: i-escape places Narivana, at Thong Nai Pan, on the northwestern tip of the island, while Wikivoyage places Thong Nai Pan on the northeast. Ask the operator which way the terrace faces.
Elevation. Our elevation figures come from a terrain model at the villa’s mapped coordinates, not from the operator, and we record elevation only where those coordinates are exact. They run from 0 m for Lotus Paradise to 70 m for Inn Harmony. A higher site can mean a steeper approach, so read the elevation next to the access figures.
Pool. An infinity pool, a saltwater pool and a pool length are three separate facts. Length is published for only some villas: Mermaid Villa lists 17 m, Secret Beach Villa 12 m (the agency gives 12 m by 3 m) and The View Villa 14 m. Several others give no length at all.
How the points treat view and pool
Each villa is scored with the same criteria, described on the methodology page. Points come from published data, not from impressions. Missing data scores 0, so the lower figure shown beside a villa is the floor. The upper figure is the score if every missing item turned out to earn full points. A wide range means the operator has left a lot unpublished.
The trade-offs the data shows
Hillside access and the beach walk
Views and easy access do not always come together.
- The operator describes Palm Stone as set on a private hillside with an infinity-edge pool; the data records a sea and sunset view, a 3-minute walk to the beach and a paved road to the gate. Pool length is not published and elevation is not recorded, so the climb to the villa cannot be checked from our data.
- Shades of Blue has a saltwater infinity pool and a 180° sea view, but the data records a 22-minute walk to the beach, an unpaved road to the gate and 15 minutes by car to Thong Sala. Its pool length is not published.
- Secret Beach Villa has a 12 m infinity pool and a 1-minute walk to the beach, but the road to the gate is unpaved and Thong Sala is 17 minutes away.
- Mermaid Villa in Srithanu has a 17 m pool, sits at about 19 m elevation and is a 3-minute walk from the beach. Thailand Retreats describes it as a few steps from the water’s edge on a west-facing bay, with the village 5 to 10 minutes on foot.
A steep site has a cost. For Narivana, on a hillside at Thong Nai Pan, i-escape lists a steep hill with many stairs, the need for motorised transport to reach beaches and restaurants, and an unfenced pool. Wikivoyage adds that outside Thong Sala most roads have no sidewalk and walking along the road can be dangerous, which matters if you plan to walk with children. For a wider view of the coast, see the guide to Srithanu and the west coast, the areas of Koh Phangan and where to stay for groups.
What to check before booking
- Which way the main terrace faces, and whether the sunset view is from the pool or only from a bedroom balcony.
- Whether the pool is fenced and whether a swimming guard is provided, if children are in your group.
- The road to the gate: paved or unpaved, and how steep.
- The walk to the beach in minutes, and whether you will rely on a scooter or a car.
- Pool length and type, where the operator has not published them.
Sources and checks
We compared operator pages, agency listings and Wikivoyage on 4 October 2026. Several villas do not publish pool length or the direction of the view; check these with the operator before booking.
